US Department of State Spokesperson reiterates US commitment to counter Russian threats in Europe, including Georgia
At the daily press briefing, U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller emphasized continued coordination with NATO Allies regarding threats posed by Russia.
“We continue to closely coordinate with our NATO Allies about a range of threats that Russia presents, both to European security through its aggression – not just in Ukraine, but remember this is a country that also invaded another one of its neighbours, Georgia, and continues to occupy Georgia as it continues to occupy Ukraine,” Miller stated.
Miller was responding to a journalist’s question about Russia’s recent threats following Ukraine’s military actions, including potential consequences for the U.S. and NATO. Addressing the concern, Miller added:
“We continue to discuss with our NATO Allies asymmetric threats that Russia makes around Europe and that we have seen in some cases come to fruition around Europe.”
