US Congress Legislative Messenger registers Georgian Nightmare Non-Recognition Act
The legislative messenger of the US Congress has registered the bill “Georgian Nightmare Non-Recognition Act.”
The bill aims to prohibit United States recognition of Bidzina Ivanishvili or any Government of Georgia that is led by Bidzina Ivanishvili, and for other purposes.
The bill is referred to the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Committee on the Judiciary, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
A bipartisan bill has been introduced in the U.S. Congress, prohibiting U.S. officials from recognizing the government of the Georgian Dream. The authors of the “Georgian Nightmare Non-Recognition Act” are Republican Congressman Joe Wilson and Democratic Congressman Steve Cohen.
