US Ambassador believes better defer to qualified physicians monitoring Saakashvili's health
“We are very concerned about Mr Saakashvili’s well-being,” US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan said on Wednesday.
US Ambassador thinks when talking about matters of health, “it is important to defer to the qualified medical experts and I am glad to see that there is a multidisciplinary team monitoring his conditions and we are also closely monitoring his condition.”
Law enforcers arrested ex-Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi on October 1. He kicked off a hunger striker day after detention.
The ex-president is charged with several criminal offences. In 2018, he was sentenced to six years in prison in absentia for abuse of power.
