UNM's Tsitlidze hopes talks in Switzerland respect Ukraine’s national interests, ensuring security for Europe and Georgia

“In reality, the war is taking place in Ukraine, that is, on European soil. Therefore, Europeans and Ukrainians alike must be involved in any peace process,” stated Ani Tsitlidze, a member of the United National Movement.

She expressed hope that the negotiations in Switzerland would conclude with due regard for Ukraine’s national interests.

“Very important negotiations are currently underway in Switzerland. We hold great hope that this will ultimately be a victory for justice and the triumph of good over evil. We trust that the negotiations will conclude in a manner that respects Ukraine’s national interests, as this also safeguards the security of all of Europe, including Georgia. This is of utmost importance to us, and we are closely monitoring these talks in Switzerland. We believe that Ukraine’s dedicated resistance against the aggressor, Russia, which invaded Ukraine and continues to kill children, represents a righteous struggle. We are confident that this struggle will end in Ukraine’s victory and in the triumph of European civilisation.

Regarding the 28-point plan, negotiations are ongoing, with parties making adjustments along the way. We understand Ukraine’s position, as well as those of Europe and the United States, and we are aware of Russia’s objectives. However, I am confident that Ukraine will emerge stronger from this difficult period, following Russia’s military aggression. Ukraine was not created to be at war; Russia initiated this conflict.

Ukraine will undoubtedly defend its national interests, its freedom and unity. I firmly believe that it will have the steadfast support of Europeans and Americans in this endeavour,” Tsitlidze concluded.
