UNM's Tsiskarishvili: Our American friends congratulate us on St. George's Day with MEGOBARI Act

“The MEGOBARI Act lists many paragraphs through which the U.S. will support the Georgian people and state. This includes free trade development and visa-free travel, but this will not happen with the Georgian Dream in power, and the document signals that,” said Petre Tsiskarishvili, General Secretary of the United National Movement (UNM) party.

According to Petre Tsiskarishvili, the act focused on who and how should be sanctioned.

“Our American friends congratulated us on St. George’s Day from Washington with the MEGOBARI Act. This abbreviation is not an accidental word. The act, which the House of Representatives adopted with a majority of votes yesterday, aims to support the Georgian people in terms of security, democracy and mobilization of all available resources for Georgia to be a successful, rapidly developing and U.S. partner country in the region. This document is not a pleasure for the ruling team and those individuals who undermine Georgia’s prospects, friendship and partnership with the U.S., security and democracy since it focuses on sanctions and details who and how should be sanctioned.

The MEGOBARI Act expresses a positive attitude toward Georgia and the Georgian people. The MEGOBARI Act lists many paragraphs through which the US will support the Georgian people and state, if Georgia makes a choice, as it will be impossible under Ivanishvili’s conditions for Georgia to be a part of the West and a U.S. partner country since the Georgian people adhere to other priorities and another foreign course. The MEGOBARI Act promises prosperity, free trade development and visa-free travel, but this will not happen with the Georgian Dream in power, and the document signals that,” he said.

The U.S. House of Representatives has reviewed and passed the Mobilizing and Enhancing Georgia’s Options for Building Accountability, Resilience, and Independence Act or the MEGOBARI Act.
