UNM's Secretary General: Nika Gvaramia’s absence from illegitimate commission not a legal violation
“Failing to report before the illegitimate government’s commission is not a law violation,” said Petre Tsiskarishvili, Secretary General of the United National Movement (UNM) party.
Tsiskarishvili described the process around Nika Gvaramia as “absurd theatre.”
“Non-attendance at the illegal commission meeting established by the self-proclaimed regime and parliament is not a violation of the law or an illegal act. All this absurd theatre around Nika Gvaramia cannot be deemed as a violation of the law by any individual, including Nika Gvaramia,” he stated.
Nika Gvaramia, leader of the Coalition for Change, has had his bail conditions replaced with imprisonment as a preventive measure. Nika Gvaramia was ordered to pay GEL 30,000 in bail as a preventive measure for failing to appear before Parliament’s temporary investigative commission studying activities of the 2003-2012 government and its officials. His deadline to pay the bail expired on June 7.
