UNM’s Sanikidze: GD aims to exclude Georgian emigration from electoral process
“Most of our emigrants have left the country because Georgian Dream prevents them from supporting their families. So why do you think that, despite social media and the presence of their relatives here, Georgian emigrants are unaware of what is happening in our country or what century it is?” said Levan Sanikidze, a member of the United National Movement.
According to Sanikidze, emigrants are fully aware of the situation in Georgia.
“This is typical in authoritarian regimes, where they fear emigration. Those who have seen Europe and the West know exactly what this country should become and what actions are necessary. The Georgian Dream is afraid of these people. They argue that those living in Europe should come back to Georgia because they are highly susceptible to propaganda. It will not be up to the Georgian Dream to decide who, where, and how to vote in the elections. This is a classic authoritarian tactic, closely aligned with the strategies of Dugin, Putin’s personal propagandist. The most important thing for Georgian Dream is to exclude Georgian emigration from the electoral process once and for all,” Sanikidze concluded.
