UNM’s Lasha Parulava: We are actively working to execute Levan Khabeishvili’s call to action against Ivanishvili’s criminal regime

“In the face of this grim reality, we must urgently mobilise the Georgian people to put an end to the corruption, criminality, state violence, and political killings plaguing this country. I do not merely agree with Levan Khabeishvili; we are actively working to translate his call to action into reality,” declared Lasha Parulava, member of the United National Movement (UNM).

Parulava was asked to respond to a recent statement published by UNM member Levan Khabeishvili, in which Khabeishvili urged the opposition to abandon inaction, overcome fear, and take bold steps toward active mass protest.

“Levan Khabeishvili’s appeal was not directed at the United National Movement alone. In truth, it is an appeal to those citizens who previously refused to believe that corruption had reached such staggering proportions that nursery schools, the armed forces, and the socially vulnerable were being systematically plundered. Levan Khabeishvili spoke out about this when others refused to believe it and instead succumbed to false narratives.

As for our party, we stand where the Georgian people stand. Our overarching duty is to safeguard order, including confronting the core source of disorder in this country, Bidzina Ivanishvili. The United National Movement is working relentlessly to shape a daily operational agenda against Ivanishvili’s criminal and corrupt regime, so that together with the Georgian public, we may defeat it.

Despite ongoing state repression and terror, we press forward daily, often completely stripped of financial resources, because this is our fight, and the fight of our people. Levan Khabeishvili is a political prisoner, a captive of this regime. He speaks from a perspective grounded in raw reality. Consequently, we do not merely accept his critique; we are actively preparing to consolidate society against Ivanishvili’s criminal rule,” Parulava stressed.

Levan Khabeishvili published his social media post yesterday, launching a critique against political paralysis and calling for decisive public resistance.

“You lack the courage even to call a rally—to say: ‘Let us gather, let hundreds of thousands take to the streets.’ All spring and summer you boasted: ‘Once autumn arrives, we will do this and that.’ Now September is here, and you are hiding once again,” Khabeishvili wrote.
