UNM’s Lasha Parulava: My goal is not anthropological research, but to urge you to read Pavle Ingorokva on how the Apsuans entered Georgia
“My objective is not to engage in anthropological research; my task is to respond to you and advise you to read Pavle Ingorokva, to read how the Apsuans entered our country. The Abkhazians, regrettably, were driven off their own land by Russian imperialist policy, turning them into displaced persons in their own homeland,” stated Lasha Parulava, a member of the United National Movement.
According to Parulava, the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia Government-in-Exile serves not the displaced population, but Bidzina Ivanishvili’s “thievish Dream”.
“Today we are standing outside the Abkhazia Government office, and unfortunately, this government helps not the IDPs, but Ivanishvili’s ‘thievish Dream’ to amass millions and hoard gold bullion at the expense of fleecing the Georgian people,” Lasha Parulava declared.
When asked how he envisions rebuilding trust in light of such statements, Parulava replied: “When democracy and the rule of law prevail in this country, and Russian military units leave our territories, the temporarily occupied regions will truly be liberated.
It is impossible to ignore that 250,000 people, Georgian Abkhazians, are displaced from their native soil, and every single one of them must return. Unfortunately, the Ivanishvili regime selects partners and strategic allies, such as China, that reject this principle. Our mission is to transform this severe paradigm, this appalling reality that has persisted for 14 years, and to choose friends and allies in the West who not only support the return of our displaced population to their land, but will also help us establish, not merely good-neighbourly ties, but true, proper, value-based relations with our Abkhazian brothers within a united Georgia,” Lasha Parulava stated.
