“Mikheil Saakashvili is facing charges for crossing the state border and for his presence in Georgia. Even if they are compelled to release him, they do not want him back in the country because they fear him the most,” stated Petre Tsiskarishvili, General Secretary of the United National Movement (UNM) party.
According to Tsiskarishvili, the case against Saakashvili regarding the alleged border crossing is one of the most absurd and ludicrous criminal cases ever pursued.
“This is among the most ridiculous criminal cases imaginable. The puppet regime has pushed over a million people to flee Georgia due to poverty, hopelessness, and lack of opportunity. Many of these individuals slipped into the U.S. and were released within a week. The countries that welcomed them recognized their plight as refugees. We all know what crossing a border entails, particularly for Georgian citizens who have emigrated to escape this regime and the bleak future in their homeland.
Now, Mikheil Saakashvili, the architect of all our state institutions, is charged with crossing the state border and merely being in Georgia. A criminal case has been launched against him. Even if this regime is forced to release him on political grounds, they still do not want him here because he is the one they fear the most,” he said.
