“We will be alongside senior members of our family, young people, and children at the October 4 rally, and all our activities will remain peaceful; any form of violence is completely unacceptable,” stated Gia Baramidze, a member of the United National Movement (UNM).
According to Baramidze, if there were provocateurs at the rally and they engaged in actions that disrupted the peaceful protest, they would be held accountable before society and the law. He believes any provocation or violence is “a Russian-style tactic.”
“We have witnessed many individuals, including journalists, being physically assaulted, eyes gouged, for example. Yet, not a single case has been properly investigated. It is Russia that seeks civil confrontation, violence, and chaos. On October 4, we will remain peaceful, and all our activities will be non-violent. I genuinely believe that October 4 will be a victory for the Georgian people; we will stay united and tell the regime to step down,” he affirmed.
Baramidze also noted that the organiser of the October 4 public gathering is Paata Burchuladze and the Rustaveli Avenue movement. It is not a political rally.
“We will join Paata Burchuladze’s rally and the call to end the regime. We will be with senior members of our community, young people, and children at the rally. As we have done for the past 13 years, our activities will be peaceful. Any violence is unacceptable. Everyone will be held responsible for their actions, including the regime, should it attempt to lead the process unlawfully. If anyone acts as a provocateur or tries to disrupt our peaceful protest, they will be held accountable before society and the law,” he emphasised.
