UNM Political Secretary: Georgians have chance to dump oligarchic rule, corruption, Kleptocracy

“In 2024 parliamentary elections, the Georgian people will have the chance to dump the 12-year oligarchic rule, corruption and Kleptocracy,” said Gia Baramidze, Political Secretary of the opposition United National Movement (UNM) party addressing the European People’s Party (EPP) Congress.

Gia Baramidze stressed that Georgia has the potential to become a member of the European Union in 2030. He said the UNM party aspired to make its contribution and “put consolidated efforts with the unity of pro-western democratic forces and the spirit of cooperation.”

The UNM Political Secretary remarked that since 2008, the party has been a member of the EPP and the strongest supporter of Georgia’s European and Democratic future.

“I am sure the EU candidate country status will give the UNM more rights to fulfil its role in this decisive and historic moment for Georgia and ensure the country’s European integration in coming years. We hope that the UNM will be able to defeat the pro-Russian oligarchic rule,” he said.
