UNM General Secretary says their party is interested in Georgia's future
“We are less interested in who will be personally sanctioned or have no visa. We are interested in the country’s future. Four months are left before the elections. We should get rid of this regime and send them home,” said Petre Tsiskarishvili, General Secretary of the United National Movement (UNM) party.
According to Petre Tsiskarishvili, the US is a friend of Georgia, a strategic partner, extending a hand of assistance for the last 30 years.
“I am sure the US will deepen relations with Georgia as soon as this regime changes. When speaking about deepening, I mean close relations, free trade, cooperation in the energy sphere and security issues and visa-free travel,” he said.
Petre Tsiskarishvili believes that tight and deep strategic relations are in the interests of Georgia.
“This regime undermines these relations. It threatens democratic values, institutions that should be independent in Georgia and foreign policy priorities such as integration into NATO and EU and partnership relations with the US and EU.
We are less interested in who is personally sanctioned, has no visa, or will not travel. We are interested in the country’s future. Four months are left before the elections. We should get rid of this regime and send them home. Georgia has vast opportunities for economic and democratic development, security and foreign orientation chosen by the Georgian people. We should return Western integration to the agenda. Despite calls from the West and protests from hundreds of thousands of people, the Georgian Dream still adopted a law that distances us from the unwavering will of the people – the West. These sanctions from the US side are outcomes. Nobody imposed anything for nothing,” said Petre Tsiskarishvili.
