UNM Chair: U.S. didn’t support Georgia at UN; Ivanishvili’s regime left Georgia friendless
“For the first time since the August War 17 years ago, the United States has not joined a statement supporting Georgia at the UN. Ivanishvili’s Russian regime has left the country without friends,” United National Movement Chairman Tina Bokuchava wrote on social media.
According to her, Ivanishvili’s political project is the “Russian Dream,” where Georgia remains isolated internationally, facing Russia alone without friends or strategic partners.
“Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as an institution, officially no longer exists. Yesterday, following the closed discussion of the 2008 war [Russo-Georgia August War] at the UN Security Council, the United States did not join the subsequent statement for the first time in 17 years. This is not the collapse of Georgian diplomacy; this is proof that Georgian diplomacy is dead. Ivanishvili’s regime has so antagonised the United States that our principal strategic partner, whose open support in 2008, alongside the heroism of Georgian soldiers, stopped Putin and preserved our statehood, today abstains from statements on the issue of war!
Why? Because today Ivanishvili’s Russo-GD regime declares America an enemy, blames it for starting the war, and declares Russia, China, and Iran as allies! They have made America hate them, but earn praise and glorification from Russian puppets, from Putin’s deputy representative at this very same UN. One Dmitry Polyansky boasts that Georgia’s current (de facto) government acts wisely, as a result of which Georgia is Russia’s second-largest trading partner and the number of Russian tourists in Georgia has reached record levels.
This is why, since 2012, we have maintained that Ivanishvili’s political project is the ‘Russian Dream,’ Putin’s dream, where Georgia stands alone against Russia, isolated internationally, without friends or strategic partners. There is only one form of relationship with Putin: slavery, servitude, captivity, and subjugation. Will the Georgian people lose their centuries-long struggle for freedom to Ivanishvili? No! Absolutely not! We shall prevail and restore the national dignity that Ivanishvili has scattered from our country! We shall reclaim Georgia!” writes Tina Bokuchava.
