UNM Chair: Jailed ex-President remains optimistic after four years of unlawful imprisonment
“After four years of unlawful imprisonment, President Saakashvili is still optimistic that the Georgian people can achieve anything,” stated Tina Bokuchava, Chair of the United National Movement (UNM) party.
“The Georgian people will bring an end to this politically motivated judiciary, and we will return to a path of normal democratic development,” she stated.
According to Bokuchava, the persistence of the Georgian people can restore the country and reaffirm Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations, to which President Saakashvili has significantly contributed.
“Today, we see that Georgia is experiencing complete international isolation due to Ivanishvili’s regime. These politically driven court processes will come to an end and all political prisoners—whether young activists fighting against this regime or President Saakashvili, who has dedicated himself to the country’s freedom and its European future—will be released. New elections will be held, and the country will return to a path of normal democratic development,” she asserted.
