“After much consideration, I have decided to end my political activities – I am leaving politics,” Tamar Kordzaia, a member of the Unity-National Movement, whose MP mandate was recently revoked by the Parliament among 49 opposition MPs, posted on social media.

“I want to make a public statement about my decision – I am leaving politics.

I began my political career in 2013, and it has been a fascinating period of my life. I have always strived to be a defender of the country’s interests, Georgia’s Constitution, and human rights. Sometimes I succeeded, sometimes I didn’t. One thing I can affirm is that every decision was shaped by these three fundamental values. I have received much criticism, but what I remember most is the support and solidarity, and I thank everyone who showed me this.

Thank you to everyone who fought alongside me. Life is worth this experience. After considerable reflection, I have decided to end my political activities. I know it is difficult, and it will be followed by mixed reactions, which is understandable.

I remain an active citizen, who continues to fight for the country’s European future,” Kordzaia posted on social media.
