Ukraine's President thanks Georgia for releasing two Ukrainian sailors
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Batumi, Georgia. He will attend the 2021 Batumi International Conference together with European Council President Charles Michel and Moldovan President Maia Sandu.
Mr Zelensky will visit the occupation line, Khurcha village and Enguri bridge, said Deputy Foreign Minister Lasha Darsalia, adding that “Georgia and Ukraine face similar challenges. Both are fighting occupation, aggression stemming from Russia.”
Enhanced cooperation between the three associated partners of the European Union – Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova is the main topic of this year’s conference.
President Zelensky thanked Georgia for releasing Ukrainian sailors Vladimir Dyachenko and Yuri Khomich, arrested on November 28, 2020, on charges of illegal border crossing, before his arrival.
“This decision is in line with the spirit of the strategic partnership between Georgia and Ukraine,” he tweeted.
