“It is important that everybody has the opportunity to see that these elections are carried out in a transparent and fair manner,” said Mark Clayton, UK Ambassador to Georgia.
Ambassador Clayton is observing the voting process of the October 2 local elections in Rustavi, Karajala and Ponichala.
“I am really pleased to see that so far what I’ve seen, elections proceed generally in a calm manner, credits to the Central Election Commission for putting in the conditions for that, but also to the political parties, who called for calm participation.
Of course, these are really important elections. This is your chance to vote for the people, who have the most direct responsibility with dealing with local problems where you live, so for those who have not voted yet, I encourage you to do so. I hope the rest of the day carries on in a peaceful and calm manner,” the Ambassador said.
