U.S. State Department Spokesperson – Georgian parliamentary elections were competitive
U.S. State Department Deputy Spokesperson Cale Brown commented about the 2020 parliamentary elections in Georgia.
“We share OSCE’s assessment: Georgian parliamentary elections were competitive and fundamental freedoms were respected, but allegations of pressure on voters and blurred lines between party and state reduced public confidence. Flaws and documented violations should be addressed,” Cale Brown Tweeted.
According to the preliminary assessment of OSCE/ODIHR observer mission, the parliamentary elections in Georgia were generally held in legislative frames that were preceded by wide public consultations which brought some improvements for holding of democratic elections though more effort is needed to eradicate faults.
