U.S. State Department affirms commitment to strengthening relations with Georgia, will consider concrete steps, demonstrating serious intent

“The United States seeks to foster constructive relations with Georgia,” the U.S. State Department told Netgazeti media outlet.

According to Netgazeti, the U.S. State Department said Washington is considering measures the Georgian government can take to reaffirm its commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.

“The United States has been Georgia’s partner of choice for 33 years. We continue to be a steadfast supporter of Georgia’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The United States looks forward to nurturing a constructive and mutually beneficial relationship with Georgia.

The peace agreement brokered by President Trump between Armenia and Azerbaijan presents a transformative opportunity for the entire South Caucasus. Georgia stands both to contribute to and to gain significantly from the stability and prosperity this agreement aims to foster.

We will continue to work with the Georgian government on issues affecting our bilateral relationship and the political climate in Georgia. Additionally, we will consider specific measures that the Georgian authorities can take to demonstrate their commitment to strengthening and progressing the relationship between our countries,” responded the U.S. State Department to Netgazeti.
