U.S. government allocates USD 8.6 million grant to support Georgian Defence Ministry

The United States Government has agreed to provide a grant valued at approximately USD 8.6 million to the Georgian Ministry of Defence.

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has signed a decree approving the transfer of this assistance, in line with the decision made by the Government of Georgia.

“1. In accordance with Resolution No. 238 of July 1, 2015, by the Government of Georgia, titled ‘On the Coordination of Foreign Assistance in Georgia and the Rules for Grant Issuance by Georgian Ministries,’ the Government of the United States of America’s decision to transfer goods valued at USD 10,431,459.90 to the Georgian Ministry of Defence within the framework of grants (PB-B-WFK, DT-B-WAZ, PB-B-WFJ, DT-BWBC, and DT-B-WBA) is hereby approved.
2. Pursuant to subparagraph ‘c’ of Article 4 of the Georgian Law ‘On Grants,’ the Ministry of Defence is authorised to receive communications equipment and other specified goods provided for in the grants allocated by the United States Government, as stipulated in paragraph 1 of this decree,” the decree, signed by PM Irakli Kobakhidze, states.
