U.S. Embassy: May 25, 1992, is historic day in U.S.-Georgia relations as James Baker visits Georgia months after diplomatic ties were established

“May 25, 1992, was a historic day in relations between the United States and Georgia,” writes the U.S. Embassy in Georgia on social media.

As the Embassy notes, within just a few months of the United States recognising Georgian independence and establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries, Georgia received its first high-ranking American official.

“Then-U.S. Secretary of State James Baker visited Georgia on May 25–26, 1992,” the U.S. Embassy writes.
