Turkmenistan FM: Georgia-Turkmenistan aspire to intensify economic ties

“We are grateful to Georgia for its support of Turkmenistan in the international arena,” said Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Raşit Öwezgeldiýewiç Meredow at the joint meeting with Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili.

The Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister thanked his Georgian counterpart for the warm hospitality, describing the meetings as having taken place in an “open and sincere atmosphere,” a crucial setting for discussing bilateral interests and outlining future plans.

“We aspire to develop economic relations between Turkmenistan and Georgia, for which we hold high-level meetings. I would like to emphasise the two last visits of his excellency, the Georgian Prime Minister, to Turkmenistan. This is a reflection of Georgia’s greatest interest in deepening cooperation with us.

During the March visit, we prepared a package of documents, which have been signed and will contribute to the development of cooperation between our countries,” he stated.

According to Raşit Meredow, the participation of Georgia and Turkmenistan in international organisations is of great significance.

“I would like to thank you, Madam Minister, for your support of the initiative, which is important for our country. I will recall the UN-adopted Resolution 290, which is about peace, security and development. Such resolutions, I believe, will contribute to the development of UN countries.

The development of economic relations is important for exchanging our perspectives, fostering strategic ties between our countries, and exploring new avenues such as cultural, scientific, and educational collaborations. Strengthening relations with the mass media and supporting its development will enhance multilateral dialogue between our nations. We are committed to adhering to the provisions outlined in our agreements.

The Foreign Ministers of both countries have signed several documents that facilitate this interaction,” he said, stressing the visit and discussions served the goal to further develop “friendship and relationship” between Georgia and Turkmenistan.
