Turkey is dispatching rescue teams of its Emergency Situations Agency (AFAD) to Georgia following the crash of a Turkish military cargo plane, Turkish media report.
It was reported that the Ministry of National Defense and AFAD teams are in communication with Georgian authorities and preparations are underway for the deployment of Turkish rescue teams to the region.
The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that the Turkish military aircraft, flying in the Azerbaijan–Turkey direction, crashed in the Sighnaghi municipality, approximately five kilometers from the Georgian border.
As reported by Sakaeronavigatsia, both Ganja Airport and the Turkish authorities have been informed about the incident.
The Turkish Ministry of Defense has confirmed that a Turkish C-130 transport aircraft crashed near the Georgian-Azerbaijani border, with 20 servicemen on board.
