Tite Aroshidze elected as rector of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University

The 11-member Academic Council has elected Tite Aroshidze as the Rector of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University.

Aroshidze received 10 votes, with one vote declared null and void. He will lead the university for the next four years.

Two candidates contested the elections: Tite Aroshidze, a Member of the Adjara Supreme Council representing the Georgian Dream party, and Archil Guchmanidze, a PhD in Biology and founder of the Flora and Fauna non-governmental organization.

The elections at the university were conducted amid protests.
