Tianeti Municipality increases newborn support payments under Mayor's initiative
Families in Georgia’s Tianeti Municipality will now receive increased one-off and monthly financial support following an initiative by Mayor Levan Tsiklauri, local authorities have announced.
Under the revised scheme:
- Parents of a first child will receive 1,500 GEL, up from 300 GEL.
- For a second child, the payment rises to 3,000 GEL, from 400 GEL.
- A third child will now bring 4,500 GEL, up from 500 GEL.
- For each subsequent child, the one-time support will increase by 1,500 GEL.
- Families welcoming twins will receive a lump sum of 10,000 GEL, a tenfold increase from the previous 1,000 GEL.
In addition to the one-off payments, families will be eligible for monthly financial assistance until the child turns one:
- First child: 150 GEL per month
- Second child: 300 GEL per month
- Third child: 450 GEL per month
- Subsequent children: an additional 150 GEL per child
To access the support, parents must apply to the municipal office within three months of the child’s birth.
Eligibility criteria also require that both parents be registered residents of Tianeti Municipality and officially hold the status of permanent residents of a highland settlement, meaning they must reside in the municipality for at least nine months per calendar year.
