From September 2019, the salary of senior, leading and mentor teachers will be increased by 150 GEL and more, – Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia Mikheil Batiashvili said at the briefing today.

According to him, the growth of salaries will also refer to school principals, employees of resource centers and administration.

“Within the framework of the comprehensive education reform, in order to improve the quality of education in schools, the Ministry of Education starts the next phase of changes in general education. The goal of the reform is to create an educational environment in schools that will allow students to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the challenges of the 21st century. In order to achieve this goal, it is necessary to have highly skilled, motivated, equipped with modern knowledge, strong teachers who will receive a decent salary.

Within the framework of the reform, from September 2019, the salary of senior, leading and mentor teachers will be increased by 150 GEL and more. The growth of salaries will continue annually and by 2022 the average salary of the teacher will be 1,500 GEL and more. The salary increase will also refer to school principals, employees of resource centers and administration”, – said Mikheil Batiashvili.
