Tbilisi Sakrebulo Chair and members honour Junkers' memory

The Chairman of Tbilisi City Council [Sakrebulo], Zurab Abashidze, alongside his deputies and fellow councillors, paid tribute to the junkers who lost their lives in the 1921 Battle of Kojori-Tabakhmela against the Russian Red Army. They laid a wreath at the Heroes’ Memorial.

As Abashidze emphasised, “The Day of Soviet Occupation remains one of the most difficult and tragic dates in our history.”

He added that the independence that our ancestors fought for and defended at great personal cost must be strengthened each day.

“This day reminds us that our ancestors sacrificed their lives to secure our homeland’s freedom and independence, a legacy that must be upheld and reinforced every day. It is our duty to honour this heritage, bolster our statehood, and preserve a free and strong Georgia. Glory to the heroes,” concluded Zurab Abashidze.
