Tbilisi-Sagarejo highway to reduce travel time by half, PM says

Besides improvement of the road infrastructure, construction of the Kakheti highway will reduce travel time by half, said Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, who inspected the construction of the Tbilisi-Sagarejo 35-kilometer-long highway together with the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Irakli Karseladze.

The construction will cost 2 billion GEL. The Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure carries out the construction works.

A Georgian company is constructing one of the sections. Austrian and German companies projected the highway with the support of the World Bank (WB).

The project will improve competitiveness of the transit corridors passing through Georgia. Additional 18 projects in the amount of 61 million GEL are ongoing in parallel with the highway.
