Tbilisi Mayor: While business remains free, their role in stabilising product prices is crucial

The Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, welcomes the active participation of businesses in the regulation of product prices nationwide and fully endorses the Prime Minister’s initiative.

“I welcome the Prime Minister’s initiative regarding product prices. Several meetings have been held with representatives from various sectors on the matter of stabilising prices. We have expressed multiple times how vital it is to regulate this issue. Naturally, business is free, inviolable, and no one seeks to interfere with that, but their engagement and participation in price regulation are crucial,” stated Tbilisi Mayor.

Regarding the journalist’s question on economic growth, Kakha Kaladze dismissed such doubts as unfounded, citing international statistics and relevant analyses.

“International organisations regularly publish data on the country’s economic progress. I find it quite absurd to question these figures. Georgia is developing economically and moving forward. Our opponents may find this uncomfortable, but it is the reality.

Of course, there are still families facing economic hardship and in need of support. As the mayor of the capital, I can assure you that the municipality has numerous special programmes in place. As long as such families exist, we will stand by them. Everything is relative. If we look back at previous years, we can see how many people were in need then compared to now. No one should delude themselves into thinking that everything in the country is perfect, or that we can smile and say, ‘Oh, we’re doing great.’ That’s not the case. We want better results and greater economic progress for our nation,” Kakha Kaladze concluded.
