Tbilisi Mayor speaks of no argument that gov't decisions harm EU integration
“You cannot make any argument that the Georgian government has taken a step that harms the European integration process,” Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze answered the journalist’s question of whether he thinks that the problem is in the government because “it no longer has allies neither in the European Union nor the European Parliament.”
“The most important thing is that you cannot make any argument that the Georgian authorities have taken such a step that harms the European integration process. They gave us a 12-point plan – it was fulfilled, and we got the candidate status. However, there was no need for this plan because we were far ahead of those countries granted the candidate status in all aspects, with all criteria. If we talk about “humiliation” and insults, this is a concrete example – what they did concerning Georgia and the Georgian people was insulting. This is also simple: they wanted to use these all for political purposes, to organize chaos, they told people that you are good, you deserve Europe, but you have a bad government”, said Tbilisi Mayor.
According to Kakha Kaladze, Europe is values for him, not current bureaucrats.
“For me, Europe is not the current bureaucrats. They are here today, but tomorrow they may not be. My family and I live by the values of Europe. I want the people of my country to also live by these values, and hence, we are working towards strengthening them. Furthermore, we aim to become a member of the European Union as a strong state,” Kakha Kaladze said.
