Tbilisi Mayor salutes those who care about Georgia's fate, sovereignty on Transparency Law's adoption

“I congratulate on the adoption of Transparency law all those who care about Georgia’s fate and sovereignty, for whom it matters that the majority decides how to live in a peaceful and stable environment,” said Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze.

According to Tbilisi Mayor, the Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence should protect Georgia from foreign influences, seeking destabilization and violation of peace in the country.

“The veto is overridden, and the Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence is passed. I congratulate on the adoption of Transparency law all those who care about Georgia’s fate and sovereignty, for whom it matters that the majority decides through elections how to live in a peaceful and stable environment as in every democratic, civilized, developed country without foreign actors’ interference.

These words are not pathetic. Today’s fate of Georgia is now determined not by swords or tanks, but by the support, reason, and the country’s interest-oriented policy and actions of the people.

The Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence should protect Georgia from foreign influences, which seek destabilization and violation of peace in the country,” he said.

The Georgian Parliament overrode President Salome Zourabichvili’s veto on the Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence on May 28.
