Tbilisi Mayor: Our EU partners offer their hand, telling Georgia deserves place in big European family

Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze congratulated Georgian society on the EU candidate status. He said the decision was the merit of the reforms, which the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) political team carried out successfully.

“With this historic decision, our European partners offered their hand, telling Georgia was a part of Europe and deserved a worthy place in a big European family.

Georgia made a historical choice centuries ago. Today, we have the outcome that followed our ancestors, the population of Georgia, and the government’s joint efforts.

It is the merit of the reforms that the ruling political team implemented. The promise of the Georgian Dream party is met. Our country has never stood so firmly on the European integration path,” he said.

On December 14, the European Council opened EU accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova and granted EU candidate status to Georgia.
