Tbilisi Mayor: Georgia may be best example of how some European bureaucrats spread falsehoods about us

“When it comes to EU countries, they hold a different attitude, yet they continue to disseminate false information about us,” stated the Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, to the media.

When asked by a journalist to assess the fact that today in Brussels, EU foreign ministers will be discussing issues related to disinformation, the mayor responded that Georgia may serve as the clearest example for them of how some European bureaucrats lie and spread incorrect narratives about Georgia.

“When it comes to lies, Georgia may be the best and most illustrative example of how certain European officials deceive and propagate falsehoods about us. Of course, their attitude towards EU member states is entirely different. Overall, double standards are very problematic.

We have shown society the kind of approach they take and the unfair attitude they have towards Georgia. Even if we look at the so-called transparency law, they have been urging us not to do so, yet they themselves make decisions on laws with similar content. We must always prioritise protecting the interests of our country and its people,” Kakha Kaladze emphasised.
