Tbilisi Mayor: Georgia stands firmly with Ukraine on all international platforms
“Despite various campaigns and criticism directed against Georgia, the Georgian people continue to stand firmly with the Ukrainian people,” Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze stated.
According to Kaladze, Georgia has consistently expressed support and solidarity with Ukraine across all international platforms.
“I will not repeat what our attitude has been toward Ukrainian citizens living in Georgia, or the benefits and assistance they received here — this is how it should be. We consider the Ukrainian people our friends, and it pains us to see the situation they are in today. It is unfortunate that several campaigns were carried out, including calls for Georgia to become involved in this disaster,” Kaladze said.
“If it were not for our firm position and effective political steps, Georgia would likely face the same difficult situation. I believe this criticism comes from informal rulers who issue directives, use the Ukrainian government and European bureaucrats, and attack the Georgian people and our sovereignty,” he added.
For reference, 91 countries, including Georgia, recently supported a UN resolution calling on Russia to return Ukrainian children who have been forcibly taken.
