Tbilisi City Court Judge Tamar Mchedlishvili has found Tedo Abramov not guilty of charges related to the purchase and storage of a substantial quantity of drugs, and has ordered his immediate release from the courtroom.
Before delivering the verdict, the judge explained, emphasising that law enforcement officers were obliged to ensure the search was recorded. She highlighted the importance of presenting an impartial witness to guarantee the integrity of the personal search.
Furthermore, the judge reaffirmed the principle that any reasonable doubt should be resolved in favour of the accused.
Following his release, Tedo Abramov remarked, “Everything in this country urgently needs to change.”
“There are far too many innocent people behind bars. We must address this injustice. Friends, we will free you and save everyone. I stand with you and I am happy,” he added.
Police arrested Tedo Abramov on December 7, 2024, and charged him with illegal possession and purchase of large quantities of narcotics. Under Article 260, Section 6, Subsection “a” of the Georgian Criminal Code, these charges carry a prison sentence of 8 to 20 years or even life imprisonment.
