Tbilisi City Hall to fully fund medicines for breast cancer program beneficiaries

Tbilisi City Hall will fully fund medicines for all beneficiaries of the breast cancer program, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze announced at the municipal government meeting.

Kaladze believes this funding will significantly “lessen the financial burden” of the patients and their families.

Previously, the Municipal Social Service covered the expenses of cancer medicines by 50-80 per cent if a patient lacked the status of a socially vulnerable person.

“In the case of early-stage breast cancer, Tbilisi City Hall finances one patient with at least GEL 21,600 and a maximum of GEL 61,150 per year; in case of metastatic form, it allocates at least GEL 40,500 and a maximum of GEL 65,340,” Kaladze said.
