Tbilisi City Hall has confirmed that a demolition permit has been issued for the building located on the Rike riverfront, commonly known as the Rike Park Jugs  [Rike Park Music Theater and Exhibition Hall]

According to City Hall, the permit covers the demolition of the structure situated on a land plot owned by Rike Dom LLC.

Municipal authorities noted that the site had remained an abandoned construction project for years before it became privately owned in 2022.

“The redevelopment plans are based on a Georgian government decree adopted on May 6, 2025, which envisions the creation of a hotel complex on the site. The project may include demolition and construction works carried out in accordance with Georgian legislation.

Under the government’s decision, the development project includes the establishment of a hotel, the commissioning of any required buildings in line with legal procedures, and the launch of hotel operations,” the City Hall says.

Regarding the authorization issued by the Tbilisi Architecture Service, City Hall said the demolition project for the existing building on the Rike Dom LLC property was approved and a demolition permit was formally granted.

“The approval followed a positive decision by the Cultural Heritage Protection Council, a body comprising representatives of Tbilisi City Hall and Georgia’s Ministry of Culture. Based on the council’s decision of April 16, 2026, the Tbilisi Architecture Service approved the demolition project and issued the permit on June 25, 2026,” the statement notes.
