Tbilisi City Hall inked 160 18-meter buses purchase contract

Tbilisi Transport Company LLC and Tegeta Motors reached an agreement under which 160 18-meter MAN buses would be acquired.

At the municipal government meeting, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze noted some buses would arrive before April 1, 2024.

“A tender for the 18-meter buses acquisition was announced, and Tegeta Motors won. On June 15, a deal for the acquisition of 160 units of 18-meter MAN buses was signed with them. Buses will be phased in gradually. The first 50 buses will come around April 1, 2024, and the remaining number will arrive by the end of 2024,” stated Kakha Kaladze.

The mayor also explained that the new buses are intended for 162 passengers, with 43 seats.

“The buses are totally accessible to individuals with disabilities: there is a designated spot in the cabin for the safe positioning of a wheelchair, and the vehicle also includes a disembarkation ramp.” A contemporary standard, integrated heating, air conditioning, and ventilation system tailored to Tbilisi’s climatic conditions has been installed. The buses are outfitted with a voice information system, an anti-vandal video monitoring system, mobile charging spots, and other cutting-edge control, management, and security technologies. The buses now have an information system, which comprises a computer for handling passenger tickets and information systems, information boards, an audio information and video monitoring system, and a Wi-Fi device,” the capital’s mayor stated.

Furthermore, Kakha Kaladze stated that the municipality is undertaking a large-scale reform and that with new 18-meter buses, even more people could access the public transport system.
