Tbilisi City Hall funded over 220,000 requests under 500-GEL medicine financing programme

To date, Tbilisi City Hall has allocated funding for more than 220,338 requests through the 500-GEL medicine financing scheme.

As Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze announced at today’s city government session, the “Medicine Financing for Socially Vulnerable Pensioners” programme was launched in 2022 to provide essential medications to socially vulnerable pensioners, fulfilling a promise made during the election campaign.

“This programme continues this year, offering those most in need a 500-GEL voucher to access vital medicines. According to the Unified Database of Socially Vulnerable Families, beneficiaries are pensioners registered in Tbilisi whose family’s rating score does not exceed 200,000. Medications are issued based on a doctor’s prescription, and citizens can receive their electronically prescribed medicines at their preferred pharmacy,” Mayor Kaladze explained.

He further noted that the budget allocated for this initiative by Tbilisi City Hall’s Healthcare and Social Services Department for 2026 is 10 million GEL.
