Tbilisi City Hall announces rehabilitation of Varketili metro station
Varketili metro station renovation will begin on February 9, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze stated during a municipal government meeting on Wednesday.
It is projected that the rehabilitation process will take 18 months. The project has a total cost of GEL 13 million and 400 thousand. Bada Constructions will renovate the interior and internal infrastructure. The metro station will be completely closed between June and August, while Tbilisi City Hall plans to employ more buses and minibuses to convey commuters.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development provided funding for the renovation (EBRD). A ceiling fall caused 14 injuries at the Varketili metro station in 2018.
Georgia got €55.6 million from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the renovation of Tbilisi Metro stations.
