Supreme Council of Adjara approved amendments to the Constitution of Autonomous Republic
The Supreme Council of Adjara approved the amendments to the Constitution of the Autonomous Republic in the third reading. 15 deputies supported the changes to the electoral system.
Under the changes, the rules of elections for the Supreme Council will be as close as possible to the proportional system. Out of 21 deputies, only three instead of six will be elected through Majoritarian rule.
The National Movement continues to boycott. According to them, the March 8 agreement has not been fulfilled. The members of “European Georgia” and “Burjanadze-Democratic Georgia” did not attend the sitting either.
The amendments will finally be approved by the Parliament of Georgia.
The elections of the Supreme Council are held together with the Parliamentary elections of Georgia.
