Strategy’s Vashadze dissociates from Chergoleishvili’s statements against TV Pirveli and its journalists, regarding them as personal attack

“I dissociate myself from and disagree with the statements circulated on social media by Tamar Chergoleishvili directed against TV Pirveli and its journalists,” writes Giorgi Vashadze, leader of the Strategy Aghmashenebeli party and one of the leaders of the Opposition Alliance, on social media.

He further stated that he regards Tamar Chergoleishvili’s remarks as a personal attack against him.

“First and foremost, I wish to extend my deepest gratitude to TV Pirveli, to each of its journalists and camera operators, who, in these extraordinarily difficult and complex political and financial conditions, and despite daily legal and economic pressure, heroically continue to broadcast and deliver the truth to the public. The existence of critical media is now more important than ever for our country. For this reason, I also wish to extend my gratitude to every independent media outlet and journalist who, despite facing significant challenges, continues to uphold a platform for the truth.

At the same time, I regard these remarks as a personal attack against me. I do not consider myself blocked by any free media outlet whatsoever.
Today, more than ever, we must all clearly understand that mutual support, solidarity, and standing together as one are the most important things on the road to this great victory!” writes Giorgi Vashadze.

For context, Tamar Chergoleishvili, one of the leaders of the Opposition Alliance, referred to TV Pirveli in a Facebook post as a “pigsty”. “Why should an honest person not be blocked in the pigsty where they fawn over Nino Jgharkava?” wrote Tamar Chergoleishvili.
