Strategy Aghmashenebeli’s Manjgaladze: Thematic unity against aggressors is urgently needed

“We are discussing the creation of a coordinated, structured agenda,” said Paata Manjgaladze, Secretary General of Strategy Aghmashenebeli, in response to a question from Maka Tsintsadze, host of the GPB First Channel program “Actual Topic.” The question addressed whether there are sufficient resources for opposition unity and if Giorgi Vashadze’s initiative has elicited reciprocal actions from the opposition spectrum.

“We’re talking about thematic cooperation. There’s no discussion yet, nor is it on the agenda, about everyone forming into one bloc, becoming one entity, or being listed together, but fighting thematically against these aggressors who disperse people and break their citizens’ facial bones – this is an urgent necessity,” Manjgaladze stated.

According to him, no investment will enter the country.

“How can investment flow into a sanctioned country that faces daily condemnation from various nations for supporting this violent regime? Which investor would risk their capital where the ruling clan is under sanctions? This is merely a memorandum of intent, years in the making—let’s wait and see. It’s akin to claiming that Trump will come to our aid starting January 20. During the transitional period, when both the outgoing and newly elected presidents were in office, Bidzina Ivanishvili was sanctioned in coordination with Trump’s administration—so what are we even discussing? Were they waiting for the sanctions on Bidzina Ivanishvili? For them, winning each day is what matters. Now they aim to promote some chimaera. Just as saying ‘Trump will come’ was a chimaera, so too is the notion that ‘6 billion will arrive.’ In reality, they are earning billions and millions, but what does Georgia gain from this?” Manjgaladze stated.

In response to Maka Tsintsadze’s question about how the opposition and protesters should navigate the path to new elections, especially when the government has no plans to initiate them, Paata Manjgaladze remarked that “we are in a situation where nobody takes the government seriously except for its own members.”

Manjgaladze further noted that, aside from Hungary and Slovakia, no European nation has recognized the government, and strategic cooperation with the United States—Georgia’s strategic partner—has effectively ceased.

“Joe Wilson is a member of Trump’s team, chairman of the Helsinki Commission, and not a day goes by without him writing a tweet or making a statement about the Georgian Dream and government violence. Georgian Dream deceives its supporters by claiming he is paid 1000 dollars for these posts. I think this is beyond the bounds of insanity,” Manjgaladze stated.
