Strategy Aghmashenebeli ready to join President's initiative for unity

The Strategy Aghmashenebeli and United National Movement (UNM) are ready to participate in the consultations to establish a united platform, as the President initiated, said Giorgi Vashadze, the Strategy Aghmashenebeli party leader.

Giorgi Vashadze urged President Salome Zourabichvili to “think about Mikheil Saakashvili’s release.”

“We believe that the objective to accelerate EU accession is so great that the opposition flank should forget the differences, and we have to move forward with the path that our society proposes. We are ready for consultations and big unity. I think the President should consider Mikheil Saakashvili’s liberation because when we speak about unity, we should not have political prisoners in jail,” he said.

In her annual report, delivered in the parliament on February 6, President Salome Zourabichvili said: “The country needs peace, protection. Therefore, from this floor, I propose a way and the formula from this deadlock, the creation of a future charter – Platform of Unity for Europe.”
