Strategy Aghmashenebeli leader slams GD for failing to propose alternatives to Zourabichvili’s initiative

“Salome Zourabichvili has put forward a clear proposal—new parliamentary elections under revised rules,” stated Giorgi Vashadze, leader of the Strategy Aghmashenebeli party.

According to Vashadze, the Georgian Dream has yet to present any alternative to Zourabichvili’s proposal.

“Once again, yesterday revealed that Georgia is mired in a profound deadlock. Salome Zourabichvili’s proposal represents a solution on behalf of the Resistance Platform: either new parliamentary elections with revised rules or local elections held simultaneously with parliamentary elections—rather than the other way around. The scheduled date of October 4 is not an election. We have heard nothing from the GD leadership—Ivanishvili and Kobakhidze—regarding this proposal,” he asserted.

Vashadze emphasized that leaders from Poland, Germany, and France demonstrated unwavering support for the Georgian people.

“France’s President, Poland’s Prime Minister, and Germany’s Chancellor have explicitly stated that Georgia must continue its European integration journey. Meanwhile, the Georgian Dream must abandon its anti-democratic pursuits to resolve the crisis—created by Ivanishvili and Kobakhidze. What is their plan? Only arrests? Those responsible for the crisis in our country should be the ones offering a clear plan. Yet, have we heard any such proposals from them? I hope you will pose the same question to Kobakhidze with the same resolve. We have no contact with him, but you—the propagandist media—must ask.”

He continued, “We see the solution to the crisis in genuine elections. But what about them? They seized power, and we are now embroiled in a deep political crisis. If you open your eyes and consider everything objectively—without distortion—you will see the stark reality.”
