State Department says Georgian's death in occupied Tskhinvali region to be "destruction caused by Russia's ongoing occupation"

“The U.S. condemns the killing of Tamaz Ginturi, a Georgian citizen, by Russia’s occupying forces in Georgia, and we extend our condolences,” reads the statement of Matthew Miller, Spokesperson for the US Department of State released by the US Embassy in Georgia.

“This death is a stark example of the destruction caused by Russia’s ongoing occupation of Georgia’s sovereign territory and elsewhere,” he said.

A Georgian citizen, Tamaz Ginturi, was killed during his illegal detention in the occupied territory of Kirbali village, and another Georgian citizen was abducted on October 6.
