State Audit Office to enforce Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence

Legislative amendments submitted to the Bureau of the Parliament of Georgia propose that the powers defined by the Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence be exercised by the State Audit Office of Georgia instead of the National Agency of Public Registry.

The amendments were introduced at today’s Bureau session by members of the parliamentary majority.

According to the draft law, a natural person who may possess information necessary for the State Audit Office to monitor the financial activities of a political party, a party member, an electoral subject, or a person with declared party-political goals — and who fails to appear before the State Audit Office — may be questioned by a magistrate judge.
