SSSG: Two Georgian citizens illegally detained in occupied territory have been released
The State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) announced that two Georgian citizens, who had been illegally detained in the occupied territory near the village of Dvani in the Kareli municipality on January 13 this year, are now free and are currently in territory controlled by the central government.
The agency confirmed that the central authorities employed all relevant measures available to secure their release.
“In consideration of the best interests of those illegally detained, we have deliberately refrained from revealing names and other details to avoid jeopardising the process.
Experience shows that such an approach significantly facilitates achieving the desired outcome.
The central government of Georgia, alongside the State Security Service, remains committed to actively working to secure the release of all Georgian citizens unlawfully held in occupied territories,” the SSSG statement concluded.
