SSSG releases ex-Defence Minister's wife Ana Nadareishvili as investigation continues into October 4 involvement
The State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) announced at a briefing that a decision has been made to release Ana Nadareishvili, the spouse of former Defence Minister Bacho Akhalaia, who was detained alongside him.
The investigation will continue to examine whether she also participated in the criminal events of October 4, 2025.
“As for Ana Nadareishvili, a decision has been taken to release her from detention. The investigation will continue to assess, based on existing or new evidence, whether she also participated in the crime alongside her husband,” the SSSG stated.
“This decision was made despite Bachana Akhalaia’s complete refusal to testify, including his refusal to answer whether he was in contact with other organisers of the crime or if his wife, Ana Nadareishvili, was also involved. This leaves open the possibility of his wife’s complicity in the crime,” the State Security added at a briefing.
For context, the SSSG arrested Bacho Akhalaia today in connection with the October 4 case. The agency’s briefing confirmed that “Bacho Akhalaia was identified as the leader and principal organiser of the criminal events.
